Volkswagen Singapore launches two new SUVs

The Tiguan – the best-selling compact SUV in Singapore so far this year – is now available in an all-new version. The Tiguan R-Line, created by Volkswagen R GmbH, has a dynamic appearance inside and out to match its class-leading performance.

Especially distinctive are the new bumpers sculpted in R-Design and painted in body colour. Their look is tuned to body-coloured side sills with ‘Matt chrome’ inserts and an R-Line roof edge spoiler. Other body specifications of the Tiguan R-Line include a black textured rear diffuser, aluminium door sill plates with R-Line logo and another R-Line logo on the radiator grille. Newly designed 19-inch ‘Mallory’ alloy wheels with 255/40 tyres complete the exterior package.

The Tiguan R-Line is the first R-Line model from the factory to be offered in Singapore. It is available in the colours ‘Candy white’, ‘Reflex silver metallic’, ‘Deep Black pearl effect’, ‘Night blue metallic’ and ‘Pepper grey metallic’.

An equally individual interior greets the Tiguan R-Line driver. The ‘Vienna’ leather seats have head restraints with integrated R-Line logos and there is a multifunction steering wheel with aluminium accents and R-Line badge. Additional interior pack components: A ‘Titan black’ roofliner and pedals with stainless steel caps.

Powering the Tiguan R-Line is the multi-award winning 2.0 TSI engine with 210 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. Fitted with the DQ500 7-speed DSG transmission as standard, the SUV reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in only 7.3 seconds.

In September 2002, the first-generation Touareg celebrated its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show and since then has been providing off-road competence of the highest level.

Volkswagen is now dedicating a new special model to this era of success, the Touareg Edition X, which with numerous exclusive features will satisfy the even most demanding of expectations.

The new Touareg Edition X runs as standard on 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels and, combined with the special ‘Moonlight Blue pearl effect’ exterior paint, available as an option, offers a stylish level of specification. A large panoramic sunroof, silver anodised roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened rear light clusters in LED technology complete the look of this striking off-roader. In addition, the ‘Chrome & Style’ designer pack, tinted side and rear windows and ‘Touareg X’ logos on the wings are also included in the package.

The first-class specification carries on inside as well. The Touareg Edition X has exclusive Nappa leather trim in amber brown with a new style of braid embossed finish. On top of this come decorative inlays in real ebony for the doors and instrument panel, plus illuminated front door sills with ‘Touareg X’ lettering. The package is rounded off with colour-coordinated decorative stitching on the leather steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and floor mats.

Customers in Singapore can choose from two powerful yet economical engines for the Touareg X – the 3.6 V6 petrol and 3.0 V6 TDI Clean Diesel.

The Touareg Edition X goes on sale in Singapore on 18 May 2013, while the Tiguan R-Line will be launched on 1 June 2013.

Tiguan R-Line – $185,800
