The best place to be at any Formula One race is the paddock, which is where the drivers are most of the time if they aren’t on the track fighting each other wheel to wheel. You never know when the drivers will appear so I spent a good amount of time in the paddock waiting for them. Join me as I take you around the Sepang International Circuit for some action both on and off the track at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg: Vlog from Malaysian GP 2013

Nico Rosberg spoke of his disappointment after the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix, where he obeyed team orders and kept his position behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton, although he was faster and kept asking if he could overtake.

Transcript:

“I’m really a mix of emotions at the moment. In general I definitely am disappointed as I would have liked to push through to the end and see how far I get with the Red Bulls. Winding back again, in qualifying I had really good pace, which was nice to see, but unfortunately with the rain I didn’t get the best out of it. Sixth place was still ok. Then I went through the race, which was all going to plan. I was quick in the race and it was awesome to see Red Bull in front and fighting with them for the win. I felt I had the pace to fight for the win. I even had a fight with Sebastian (Vettel) coming out of the pits. I was very close, though not enough to give it a shot. It was all going well, though we lost out a little bit on the hard tyre and struggled a bit more. During Red bull’s second to last stint, we dropped a little bit. But still yeah in the end ok I was going on Lewis and I gave it a couple of goes to try and overtake, but the double DRS didn’t work out. Unfortunately (room service right behind me but probably not at the moment) the team said hold position and I decided to respect that afterwards. I understand that it’s for the team. For sure it was a very important result. We have had a tough time lately and to be 3rd and 4th is really great, a nice stepping stone toward greater things to come. For now I’m disappointed, but for sure the next couple of days the disappointment will settle and I look forward to the next race. I’ve had some good success with this car and China is one of my favourite races coming up. Keep crossing your fingers for me and see you soon!”
