1.4 TSI engine is a perfect fit for the dynamic SUV

Volkswagen Singapore’s Category A model line-up has been expanded with the introduction of the new Tiguan 1.4 TSI. The car will be officially launched on 1 December 2012.

The Tiguan 1.4 TSI is the only SUV in its class that qualifies for a Category A Certificate of Entitlement (COE), meaning substantial cost savings for customers.

It is powered by a 1.4 TSI Twincharger engine producing 150 bhp. The strong 240 Nm of torque – available all the way from 1,500-4,000 rpm – delivers effortless acceleration in all driving conditions.

Paired with this multi-award winning engine is the equally acclaimed 6-speed DSG transmission, which shifts gears incredibly quickly and smoothly. The Tiguan 1.4 TSI goes from 0-100 km/h in only 9.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 193 km/h.

With a combined fuel consumption figure of just 7.1 L/100km and CO2 emissions of 164 g/km, the Tiguan 1.4 TSI is also extremely efficient.

Fitted as standard is Volkswagen’s BlueMotion Technology package, which includes a Stop/Start System and Brake Energy Regeneration.

Additionally, the DSG has a coasting function – when the driver releases the accelerator pedal, for example when slowing down to a traffic light, the transmission disengages and the engine idles. This enables optimal utilisation of the Tiguan’s kinetic energy.

The Tiguan 1.4 TSI may have a downsized engine but its equipment list is impressively long. Among the standard features are Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP), 6 airbags, fatigue detection, a full-colour multi-function trip computer display, automatic headlamps and wipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Prices for the Tiguan 1.4 TSI start at $159,300 with COE.
