Snapshots from PAssion Motoring launch event
Yesterday evening was a cosy affair at the official launch of PAssion Motoring, the first automotive initiative from the People’s Association. Backed by the PMET division, this new Motoring Series will see activities planned by the people for the people.
What does that mean?
It means people like me, appointed leader for this interest group, will rope in other enthusiasts to plan events! This way, we can better cater to your needs and wants right?
Grassroots Advisor Dr Fatimah Lateef, also MP for Marine Parade GRC, graced the occasion in an elegant black dress and she is keen to try go-karting! Looks like a karting event for PAssion Motoring is inevitable…
To get people hyped up about karting, seven racing drivers were invited to speak at the event last night. They are:
- James Pull, 11, actively races in go-karts in Europe
- Jon Lee, 12, 2010 Singapore Karting Championship (SKC) Cadet champion and current 2011 SKC cadet leader
- Gabriella Teo, 12, first female to race in SKC
- Amin Noorzilan, 14, 2010 SKC Junior champion and current 2011 SKC junior leader
- Thaddeus Lee, 16, current 2011 SKC senior leader
- Paul Lee, 40, 2010 SKC Masters champion and father of Thaddeus Lee
- Yuey Tan, 29, racing driver in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and SKC ambassador
Sharing about their karting experiences, the audience was impressed at how young some of these drivers are!
For those who have not karted before, please try! Maybe you can drop me a comment or an email and we can go karting together? For those who have karted before, do it more often yeah? For those who are keen in karting, take it to the next level and start racing! The Singapore Karting Championship is an excellent platform for you to embark on your racing career…
I gave my presentation and it went ok.. will post up a video of it soon!
There was good wine (and sparkling juice for the kids) served for the night as everyone mingled and networked, while exchanging namecards and pleasantries.
I’m so happy to be part of this and if you have any suggestions on what event/activity we can plan for the community, please share with me or even join me as part of the committee!
Workshops such as car care, tyre care, automotive photography; go-kart races; local food trail and overseas driveaways are just some ideas.. but we’re always open to more!
Thank you Su-Anne dearie for rushing down to support me… you missed my speech though! :p
Thank you Gloria and Justine for coming down just to support me too! [Justine is from Scotland and she has a degree in dance! Pretty girl! ]
Here’s to PAssion Motoring! ))
