The Singapore Motor Sports Association is honoured to be hosting the 2012 CAITA dinner reception

Singapore has been chosen as the featured country for the sixth China-ASEAN International Touring Assembly and China-ASEAN Journalists Rally (CAITA) 2012. Hosted by the Singapore Motor Sports Association (SMSA), the official dinner reception for CAITA will take place on 27 August 2012, Monday, at 7.30 pm at the Pit Building where a Go-karting challenge will be held for about 120 participants on part of the Formula 1 street circuit (turns 22 & 23) before dinner commences in one of the Paddock Club hospitality suites.

“We are very pleased to have Singapore chosen as the featured country for the 2012 CAITA . SMSA is proud for this opportunity to showcase the stunning city skyline of Singapore, especially with the Formula 1 street circuit lights,” says Mr Tan Teng Lip, President of SMSA.

“Over the years this partnership has become a milestone event for SMSA. This is a meaningful and memorable event for all of us as we are promoting motorsports (including road safety) and at the same time, engaging in cultural exchange and tourism promotion to members of the CAITA,” he adds.

Held for the sixth time since 2006, CAITA is an annual sport event organised by the General Administration of Sport of China, the People’s government of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the ASEAN secretariat, co-organised by the Sports Administration of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the Federation of Automobile Sports of China.

This year, participating drivers of CAITA from China are travelling about 10,000 km over 10-days, crossing borders from Nanning in China, to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand before entering 16 August to 26 August 2012.  Mr Leslie Chang, Organising Chairman from SMSA, is part of the convoy on the return leg en route to China.

Mr Xiaoning Rong, Deputy Director of the Organising Committee of 2012 CAITA and director of Guangxi Sports Administration China comments, “This event is one of the fringe activities leading up to the annual China-ASEAN Summit held in Nanning City, the provincial capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. We are grateful and appreciative of the SMSA’s kind generosity and the opportunity to celebrate our long-standing friendship. This is a brilliant platform to enhance the exchange of sports and also improve the relationship between China and the ASEAN countries.”
