The Red Bull Rookies Search is offcially back in Singapore for its second year, although with a new format this time!

It will be a battle of the sexes as the search is on for an all-male team and an all-female team!

Two Red Bull Rookies teams will be entered in this year’s Sepang 1000KM race.

One all-male team and one all-female team

Each team consists of 3 drivers, of which 1 is already fixed.

(Mark Darwin of Malaysia will be the anchor driver for the male team, while Melissa Huang will be the anchor driver for the female team. Both of them were in last year’s programme and are returning to serve as a mentor.)

The hunt for the remaining four drivers (2 males and 2 females) to join Mark and Melissa will be extended to Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia. Seat allocation is not pre-determined by nationality but will be based on merit.

No racing experience necessary.

Age limit between 18 and 25 years old (as of the date you sign up).

Able to drive manual car.

Possess a valid driving licence.

Training will be provided by Asia Advanced Driving Academy.

Licensing costs and racing gear are not provided.

This is the tentative schedule and is subject to changes.

There are no signup fees, but upon registration you will be interviewed on the spot and will have to go through simple physical tests for eyesight, colour blindness, reaction, a simulator drive and even a mock media interview.

You may sign up online here or head down to the Red Bull Rookies Driver Search 2012 roadshows at Big Splash this weekend or Velocity next weekend!

Just look out for this poster:

Originating in Malaysia in 2007, the Red Bull Rookies was an all-female talent search for a racing team that competed in the 12-hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race and later the Sepang 1000KM. The Search first came to Singapore last year.

Note: This initiative is by the Red Bull gold can (think classic), which is distributed by Allswell Trading in Singapore, and not the blue and silver Red Bull in Formula 1.
