Weight Loss Diary: My addiction to bread

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

I’ve always loved to eat bread. Whether it’s a pork floss bun from Breadtalk or simply a slice of plain Gardenia bread, I love them all the same.

It’s hard to explain an addiction, you just get addicted to something and you just can’t stop having enough of it.

Weight Loss Diary: The beginning of the end with GLOW

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

As quickly as it started, the GLOW BFF Challenge has ended. I’ve learnt a lot about diet and nutrition in the past month, and also had possibly the most active month I’ve had in years. I was engaging in several types of physical activity, such as PT sessions, yoga, kickboxing, zumba fitness and jogging.

The best thing about it?

Having girlfriends to do it with you!

It really made the workouts a lot more fun and it also served as a motivation to get moving. The group was pretty big when we started, but as we went along, some fell off the radar due to other commitments. The common few faces however, gelled strong and the friendships made out of sheer perspiration are very valuable.

Weight Loss Diary: The Wrong Concepts

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

I’ve been leading a healthy lifestyle by:

a) Eating clean
b) Exercising at least 3 times a week
c) Sleeping at least 7 hours a night
d) Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day

Weight loss is a long-term process and I am not hoping for a miracle, but I will keep on eating and working out right.

Weight Loss Diary: The importance of your diet

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

I’m almost to the end of the GLOW BFF Challenge and I thought I would share some of the learning points that I have taken away from this experience. As part of the programme, we had two nutritional workshops to help us understand better what we are putting into our mouths.

Indeed, diet is a very important part of the weight loss process. Some even say it is 90% of weight loss, while exercise is a mere 10%. So you may be working out really hard but if you are not eating right, you will find it very difficult to achieve the results you want.

Here are some changes you can make to your diet to aid you with your weight loss:

Weight Loss Diary: GLOW BFF Challenge – The halfway mark

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay 1 Comment

It’s been two weeks since I embarked on the GLOW BFF Challenge and I thought I would give you a little update.

I’ve been trying hard to keep to the meal plan that Rachel, GLOW’s in-house nutritionist, planned for me. It’s a very straightforward plan:

No, I’m not supposed to eat every single thing in each box, but those are options that I can choose from. It may sound sad having to eat brown rice or only half a palm size of chicken or fish, but I actually do enjoy eating these healthy foods. I managed to stay away from potato chips, chocolates and candies… with much self-discipline. (Ok fine, there were days when I pinched at some gummy bears, but at least I stopped after a few and didn’t polish off the whole tin like I usually can.) Each time I want to reach out for something ‘naughty’, I think of the pain during my workout and I take my hand back. Truth be told, it doesn’t work all the time but I try and there’s at least a 95% success rate!
