One Night in Vegas

The (tyre) dust has settled and the cars are on their way back to the respective workshops. The morning after Formula Drift Long Beach wrapped up, I rented a car and drove 4 hours to Las Vegas! In the Kia Cerato Forte sedan, I covered almost 300 miles from Long Beach airport to the doorstep of MGM Grand in Vegas.

Driving to Vegas is pretty straightforward, especially with the GPS. The later two-thirds of the journey was mostly barren land, with nothing exciting to see but still a nice view of rolling (brown) flat land.

I only have one night in Vegas so I wanted to catch a show and then walk down The Strip to absorb the city lights. David Copperfield is performing at MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theatre these few days, but tickets were already sold out!

There are a lot of BIG displays in Vegas:

There are very interesting vehicles in Vegas too!

After the show I spent 3 hours walking down The Strip from MGM Grand to The Mirage and back..

I must say though, that I am a tad disappointed with Vegas. I was expecting it to be a lot brighter and grander. The hotels like Monte Carlo, Caesars Palace, Mirage, Venetian were all huge and beautiful yes, but somehow I feel that Macau is more impressive. Nonetheless, Vegas is still majestic in its own ways…
