HAVAIANAS CELEBRATES ITS 50th BIRTHDAY IN IMPECCABLE STYLE & ORIGINALITY IN SINGAPORE AT THE INAUGURAL ‘MAKE YOUR OWN HAVAIANAS’

In commemoration of its 50th Anniversary milestone, iconic fashion flip-flop brand Havaianas stepped up its celebratory beat with a birthday bash like no other, inviting fans to bask in the vibrant spirit of ultimate self-expression at its inaugural ‘Make Your Own Havaianas’ (MYOH) event in Singapore. Held from 13 – 15 July 2012, the special event provided locals the long-anticipated opportunity to customise a pair of Havaianas flip-flops they can finally call their own, by mixing and matching from a colourful galore of straps, soles and pin embellishments.
The personalised fashion affair kick-started with an exclusive closed-door VIP day on 13 July, where over 100 trade partners, media and bloggers enjoyed the first-hand experience of the MYOH event, which has been successfully popularised in cities like London, New York and Manila. Since its first standalone h store in 2009, the brand’s rising popularity indicated a strong following and a growing demand for the cult event. The strong turnout over 3 days precipitated the nation’s rising fashion quotient and proved that Havaianas is becoming a more sophisticated wardrobe essential for Singaporeans, addressing both style and comfort.
Upon arrival, guests on the VIP Day were warmly greeted by Havaianas and ushered into the venue decked in colourful Brazilian-inspired Bonfim wish ribbons. The specially customised ribbons were also handed out for guests to don around their wrists to mark the start of their vibrant customisation journey. Cute and quirkily designed cupcakes and drinks were also served as guests made careful selections for their customised pair of Havaianas flip-flops. Enthralled by the enticing selection of soles, straps and decorative pins, delight and excitement were plastered across the faces of guests as they had their flip-flops assembled and delivered before their eyes.
Following the fanfare on the VIP day, the MYOH event officially opened to the public over the weekend, from 14 – 15 July 2012. Over a short span of two days, Havaianas proved to be a fashion powerhouse as hundreds of consumers queued patiently to fulfil their desire of creating a pair of Havaianas flip-flops that truly expresses their individuality in free-spirited style.
