In about 2.5 hours time I will be addressing the audience at the official launch of PAssion Motoring, the first motoring interest group that the People’s Association has ever created. I will update with photos after! Now I need to go and work on my presentation… *excites* By the way, if you have any ideas on what events or activities we can organise, or if you want to be part of the committee, please feel free to email me at email@example.com!
PAssion Motoring is the first and newest automotive community initiative in Singapore backed by the PMET division of the People’s Association (PA) and driven by the motoring community for the community at large. Going beyond niche forum groups, PAssion Motoring aims to transcend car brands, types, sizes to connect just about any petrolheads through upcoming motoring and lifestyle events with automotive industry expert Cheryl Tay appointed to spearhead this initiative. The official launch, facilitated by Geylang Serai Community Club, will take place on 8 September 2011. The Guest of Honour is Dr. Fatimah Lateef, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC and Advisor to Geylang Serai CC. There will be interesting sharing by Cheryl and 6 leading local kart racing drivers aged 11 to 40 years old!
Dr. Fatimah Lateef comments, “PAssion Motoring by PMET provides an excellent platform to engage a large diverse pool of PMET motoring enthusiasts, enabling them to connect with one another and forge friendships. Taking this a step further, PAssion Motoring will keep its members connected offline through activities as well as online through avenues such as Facebook. There are many exciting themed activities in the pipeline such as a charity car drive in January 2012 where car enthusiasts can add a meaningful dimension to their passion by taking an elderly citizen or underprivileged child in their cars! This is another example of engaging people through different interest groups, which appeals to them.”
On the engagement of PMETs through motoring, Jacinta Lim, Director of the PA PMET Division shared, “PMETs are an important and growing segment of our community. The PA wants to grow PMET participation and active communities of PMETs through all channels. The PA’s new PAssion Motoring series is one of the channels that meet the interests of PMETs. We hope that PMETs will become an active part of our community landscape through their involvement and contributions in activities for PMETs and the community,”
“PAssion Motoring will unite car enthusiasts regardless of car brand and model, with the same zeal for all things related to driving and also motorsports. Open to anyone with an interest in cars or driving, we hope to reach out to a greater like-minded audience. You don’t have to own a car to join us; as long as you have the interest, you are more than welcome to be part of our activities. We will also be drawing more involvement from members to plan the events so it’s really an initiative for the people by the people,” adds Cheryl Tay, the leader of PAssion Motoring.
PAssion Motoring is a spin-off from a group of motoring enthusiasts who took their interest a step further after taking part in a series of motoring activities under the PA PMET division. The division aims to connect PMETs to other professionals. This is just one of the many PA programmes to engage the PMET segment of the community and bring them together to build social capital.
