Last Friday evening, the new Honda CR-V was unveiled in Singapore at Fort Canning Park…

The all-new 2012 model introduces the latest evolution of Honda’s successful CR-V formula. Compact on the outside and roomy inside, the CR-V presents an unbeatable balance for size and functionality in the crossover SUV segment. The all- new five-passenger CR-V offers improved car-like interior comfort, a smoother and quieter ride, and even more innovative features than the previous.

The 3rd Generation Honda CR-V is one of the most successful SUV in Singapore. In its 5 year model life, Kah Motor sold almost 2400 units,” says Mr Nicholas Wong, General Manager of Kah Motor. “The all new 4th generation CR-V builds on this tremendous success, offering new advanced technologies and a higher level of style, safety and refinement.”

“The new 4th Generation Honda CR-V impresses with its sedan-like driving experience. It is also very well equipped,” says Mr Vincent Ng, Product Manager of Kah Motor. “All models are equipped with an intelligent Multi-information Display featuring a 5-inch TFT display and Honda’s innovative Eco AssistTM. To meet the individual needs of our customers, we are offering a new 2 engine line-up with Front Wheel Drive for even greater efficiency.”

Two power and efficient engines are presented in the 2012 CR-V. Leading the changes are a more efficient engine design with improved horsepower and torque, along with an all-new two wheel drive format for even greater efficiency and performance. The top-line CR-V 2.4 is powered by a 2.4-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with 190ps and 22.6kg.m of torque paired with a standard 5-speed automatic transmission. NEA-FELS estimated fuel economy is rated at 11.6/6.5/8.4 litres per 100km urban/extra-urban/combined. The CR-V 2.0 is powered by a 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with 155ps and 19.4kg.m of torque paired with a standard 5-speed automatic transmission. NEA-FELS estimated fuel economy is rated at 10.3/6.1/7.6 litres per 100km urban/extra-urban /combined.

Both engines are matched with Honda’s reliable 5-speed automatic transmission. The transmission has been extensively reworked for a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency.

Eco Assist, a new feature on the CR-V for 2012, indicates to the driver when the vehicle is being operated in an efficient style via “green” visual cues surrounding the speedometer, and a selectable ECON Mode alters operating characteristics of the vehicle to support an efficient driving style.

New for 2012 standard features include a 1-Pull Lever 60/40 Rear Folding Seats and a range of standard technology features. New high-tech features on both models include a full-color intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID).

The CR-V lineup starts with the CR-V 2.0 model, now with more standard equipment for 2012. The CR-V 2.0 is equipped with dual zone air conditioning, cruise control, i- MID, remote entry, 17-inch alloy wheels and a 160-watt, a 6-speaker audio system. The CR-V 2.4 adds a power moonroof, a leather-trimmed interior, 10-way power driver’s seat, HID headlights, automatic headlights control, rain-sensing wipers, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and a rearview camera with guidelines.

The 2012 CR-V body adopts a more dynamic and sophisticated external design. The CR-V’s spacious interior layout is more accommodating with a roomy new center console/arm rest and an overall lower cargo floor height for easy loading and unloading. The new 1-Pull Lever 60/40 Rear Folding Seats makes accessing the full capability of the cargo area much more convenient than traditional folding seats. Each side of the rear seat can fold nearly flat into the front of the cargo area using one of the release levers located near the tailgate, or a pull-strap positioned on the seat side.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist and a front seat design that can help reduce the severity of neck injury in the event of a rear collision are standard equipment. The CR-V 2.4 adds VSA – Honda’s electronic stability control system, side-curtain airbags and front-side airbags with a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS). An G-Control (GCON) body structure in the front of the vehicle helps make the vehicle highly effective at absorbing and dispersing the energy of a frontal crash.
