I’m always encouraging ladies to be more involved in motorsports and this is the first solid tangible initiative I’m making. When the Changi Motorsports Hub comes up there will be lots more opportunities but right now I would like to call out to all ladies to come down for an ALL-FEMALE karting session at Singapore’s only karting facility – Kartright Speedway.
Calling all ladies! Ever wanted to try go-karting but am too shy to do so? You now have a chance to kart with ONLY females on the track! To all men, sponsor your wife or girlfriend, or encourage your mother, sister and auntie to give go-karting a shot.
Kartright Speedway is having its first Ladies’ Night on 25th February 2011 where the track will be closed and there will only be females on the track so the ladies won’t feel intimidated by guys who will zip all around complaining and cursing that we girls are ‘oh-too-slow’.
Hosted by Cheryl Tay, Singapore’s only full-time female motoring journalist and motorsports blogger, this Ladies’ Night session includes proper theory and practical lessons as well as personal coaching by professional karters (multiple British kart racing champion Richard Bradley and veteran national karting champion Kenny Yip) and also individual track time after your one-on-one coaching.
Instead of the usual $45 for 10 minutes of karting at Kartright on a weekend evening without any professional guidance AND with other stranger males whom you may feel shy around, you get a two-hour course for just $90 ($80 if you bring a girlfriend). Also get a chance to hear Gabriella Teo, Singapore Karting Championship’s first female racer, share about her experience!
In addition, Cheryl Tay will be on the lookout for potential drivers for the all-female team that she is entering in the upcoming inaugural OCBC Corporate Karting Challenge! Got a comfortable pair of covered flat shoes in mind that you can bring to this all-female karting crash course? Then you have to sign up!
