GIVING WHILE DRIVING
"LOVE ON WHEELS: ZOOM ZOOM WITH A HEART!"
A Charity Car Drive presented by PAssion Motoring, the People's Association Motoring Series
Spearheaded by PAssion Motoring's volunteer team of motoring enthusiasts and backed by the People's Association (PA) PMET (Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians) Division and Geylang Serai Community Club, "Love on Wheels – Zoom Zoom with a Heart!" is a pioneering initiative that coalesces the zeal for motoring with a worthy cause. This is a foremost effort by the PA to create a heart-warming platform for busy working professionals to do their part for the underprivileged that goes beyond just monetary contribution. Participants can look forward to an automotive adventure where they drive around the island, take part in a series of meaningful activities with and for the underprivileged, and be a part of this unprecendented Charity Car Drive in Singapore. At the end of the challenge, participants also stand to win Hamilton watches worth $5,000 in total as well as prizes for the Best Dressed Cars and Best Dressed Teams.
"Love on Wheels – Zoom Zoom with a Heart" will take place on 25 February 2012 at 8.00am. More than 40 cars will gather at PA Headquarters where Associate Professor. Fatimah Lateef, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC and Adviser to Geylang Serai CC will flag off the event. Making up of 2 to 3 members per team, each team will drive to a total of 5 checkpoints where they perform activities related to charity. Some examples of the activities would be a time-based challenge to pack food rations for the needy, driving them around to catch a glimpse of Singapore scenery and bring them for lunch finally. A sumptuous spread will be prepared, accompanied by entertaining tunes from the likes of Elvis Presley and popular local musical-drama film "881". This Charity Car Drive will involve and benefit Singapore Cheshire Home as well as needy families in the Geylang Serai and Ubi areas. Residents of these homes will be treated to an afternoon of delight and new-found friendships formed with the participants of the Charity Car Drive.
Graced by Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef, "PAssion Motoring by PMET was created to serve as a platform to engage a diverse community of PMET motoring enthusiasts. The first event, which is this meaningful charity car drive, will offer an opportunity to bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged as they are driven around Singapore. It offers a platform for PMET to do their part for the community."
Jacinta Lim, Director of the PA PMET Division shares, "PMETs are an important and growing segment of our community. The PA wants to grow PMET participation and active communities of PMETs through all channels. The PA's Motoring Series is one of the channels that meet the interests of PMETs. We hope that PMETs will become an active part of our community landscape through their involvement and contributions in activities for PMETs and the community."
"Instead of the typical motoring activities, PAssion Motoring aims to bring unique events to a greater like-minded audience. The Charity Car Drive is one of the ways in which this Motoring Series will be giving back to the society through the automotive passion. Next up – adding adrenalin rush to the hectic work schedules of PMETs is an upcoming karting challenge that would set hearts racing," adds Cheryl Tay, the leader of PAssion Motoring.
PAssion Motoring is a spin-off from a group of motoring enthusiasts who took their interest a step further after taking part in a series of motoring activities under the PA PMET division. The division aims to connect PMETs to other professionals of all ages, races and estates through various channels. This event, which is just one of the 9 PMET specialised programmes, serve as a channel to engage the PMET segment of the community and encourage them to network, bond and form communities.
