Formula Drift Indonesia 2011: Tough luck for Singaporean Ivan Lim

Ivan Lim was the only Singaporean hope at Formula Drift Indonesia, driving for Team Kumho Binter in the Nissan Silvia S13 with its new livery!

Ivan was showing a lot of confidence in practice, giving the Singaporean fans some hope for a promising weekend – maybe his first entry into Top 8 at Formula Drift?

Malaysian leading drifter Ivan Lau was also on-site to help Ivan Lim, as mechanic and spotter!

However, he messed up his first qualifying run (scored a ZERO) and had to play it safe in the second run.

His second run wasn’t too bad and he scored 72.2%, putting him in 12th of the Top 32 qualifiers.

His first tandem battle was against Nattawoot Krerpradab (aka Oat) of the M150 Overdrive team from Thailand.

The judges called for OMT and both drivers were given a fresh chance to impress.

After watching replays of the runs, the judges decided to give the win to Oat, knocking Ivan out of the competition right there and then.

At the moment there are no confirmed plans for Ivan to compete in Formula Drift Malaysia next month.
