Formula Drift Indonesia 2011: Faces of the weekend

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

The drivers are all registered and ready to compete in the first ever Formula Drift Indonesia!

We see female Indonesian drifter Alinka (in the first row, second from right) – only 19 years of age and the second female to compete in Formula Drift Asia.
Rifat Sungkar, who finished 4th at Formula Drift Malaysia, was absent from Formula Drift Singapore earlier this year due to his rally commitments but is definitely here this weekend at his home country’s inaugural Formula Drift.
The GT Radial Drift Team and Achilles Drift Team Indonesia are also in full force, with GT Radial bringing back Josh Boettcher of Australia while Bullzai of Malaysia switches teams from GT Radial to Achilles. Sole Singaporean Ivan Lim is also representing a new team – Kumho Binter.

Thai drift teams Red Bull and M150 Overdrive are here as well, along with hot favourites Daigo Saito, Robbie Nishida and Ken Gushi who will be piloting Orido’s sick Supra from Team RSR.
Along with a new car to drift in Asia, Ken Gushi also has a new racing suit! See how “fired up” he is…
The Red Bull Drift Team Thailand drivers are donning new black racing suits to match their matt black livery:
Don’t they look so smart? :D

Making their debut in Formula Drift USA at the last two rounds in Las Vegas and Irwindale, Non of M150 Overdrive and Amandio of Achilles Drift Team Indonesia have become good friends and are now ready to fight for top honours in Formula Drift Asia.
Not open to public, today saw drivers coming in for registration and getting their cars sent for technical inspection. Selected drivers represented their teams and sponsors at the press conference, and also gave special rides to the media and VIPs.
Practice will start at 9.30am tomorrow!
