The People’s Association Motoring Series by the PMET Division had its inaugural networking night for motoring enthusiasts on 22 August at the Infiniti showroom.
Titled PETROLHEADS NETWORKING NIGHT: AN ALTERNATIVE TO FUEL, the purpose of the event was to educate and share with enthusiasts about the sustainable technologies behind alternative-fuel vehicles (such as hybrid and electric cars) in aim of a cleaner and greener environment.
Organized by the PA’s PMET Division and Geylang Serai CC in partnership with Wearnes Automotive, the regional distributor for automotive brands Infiniti and Renault, participants got the opportunity to test drive the latest Infiniti M35H Hybrid and the fully electric Renault Fluence Z.E.
To help them understand the technologies better, there were two speakers for the night.
Besides taking care of the overall operations, Dr. Albert Chow, general manager of Infiniti Singapore, is responsible for product planning and has been activively engaged in introducing the philosophy of the Infiniti brand and its products.
He introduced Infiniti and elaborated on the M35H Hybrid, the fastest hybrid production vehicle in the world today.
An advocate of green technology, Mr. Arnaud Mourgue, area operations manager for Renault Singapore, shared his knowledge and experience of Renault electric vehicles, including the Fluence Z.E., which made its Asian debut in Singapore a few months back.
He oversees product planning and commercial activities within South East Asia and Taiwan.
Making an appearance at the event was Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC and Geylang Serai CC Adviser.
She also tried her hand at both cars.
There was a lucky draw for participants with attractive prizes, including Formula 1 memorabilia such as backpacks and even exclusive passes to the pit garages, as both Infiniti and Renault are involved in Formula 1.
Of the 100 participants who came for this networking night, two lucky participants won the chance to bring the Infiniti M35H Hybrid and Renault Fluence Z.E. home for a test drive over a weekend.
Although the test drives started before the event kicked off, the waiting list was too long. To ensure that no one left disappointed, Wearnes Automotive generously extended the test drives into the night.
Dinner was served before the speaker sessions, so the networking continued to the end of the night, as guests mingled over wine, in the company of the Infiniti and Renault (car) models.
Infiniti and Renault salespersons were on readily on hand to answer queries from participants.
PETROLHEADS NETWORKING NIGHT: AN ALTERNATIVE TO FUEL is part of the PA’s Motoring Series of special interest and community networking events that the PMET Division organizes with various Community Clubs (CCs) targeted at motoring enthusiasts to provide a platform for them to come together as a community to make friends as well as share ideas and activities.
