Eurokars Group, a brand synonymous with premium automotive marques, launched the first of its new generation of Mazda models last Friday (the 13th), one that is set to redefine the future of driving – the brand new Mazda CX-5! Launched at a gala event at the Ritz Carlton Singapore, with more than 800 guests in attendance, this new crossover SUV is the first offering from the luxury Japanese marque to fully incorporate Mazda’s proprietary SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and its new design theme, ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’.
The launch of new Mazda CX-5 also marks the 20th Anniversary of Trans Eurokars, providing yet another reason to celebrate. To mark this momentous occasion, Eurokars Group is making a substantial donation to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF). The donation will help SPMF to alleviate the financial burden faced by lower-income families in providing for their children’s education.
Giving Back to the Community
Aside from dealing with premium automobiles, Eurokars believes strongly in giving back to society and the community and have made significant contributions to various charities since the 1990s. These include the Red Cross Society, Children’s Charities Association, MILK Fund, and the President’s Challenge.
This year, in celebration of Trans Eurokars 20th Anniversary, the Eurokars Group is making a donation of S$200,000 to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF). The SPMF gives financial assistance to children from low-income families to help with their school-related expenses. Primary school pupils get $55 a month and secondary school students $90 a month. It is also broadening its reach and launching new programmes for the social and educational development of these children. The donation cheque was presented by Mr. Karsono Kwee, Eurokars Group Executive Chairman to Mr. Han Fook Kwang, Managing Editor of English and Malay Newspapers Division, who is also the Chairman for SPMF.
“We hope that the money donated goes a long way towards helping parents shoulder the costs of their children’s education,” commented Mr. Kwee. “With the SPMF in place, parents from low-income families who qualify have one less burden to worry about and we want to help with that in any way we can.”
“We are very fortunate to have such a committed friend of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The Eurokars Group has been one of our strongest supporters in the 12 years that we’ve been raising money to help needy students and this very generous donation will go a long way to making sure every student who needs help will get it,” Mr. Han also said.
Trans Eurokars Goes Platinum
The Launch of the CX-5 coincides neatly with the celebration of Trans-Eurokars’ 20th Anniversary, often referred to as the Platinum Anniversary. Over the past 20 years, Trans Eurokars has established a well deserved reputation as a respected motoring entity. Having grown from a niche sports car retailer to a full-fledged sports-luxury automobile dealership, Trans Eurokars was founded by respected entrepreneur, Mr Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of the Eurokars group. Driven by a genuine passion for motorcars, Mr Kwee has turned the business into a well-diversified and leading customer-oriented dealer of premium automobile brands in the region.
Mazda has taken a fresh approach to all aspects of car building and the first results of their innovative new approach is the CX-5, a crossover SUV that is built to inspire one to take the wheel and drive. The CX-5′s driving dynamics were developed to take into account not only vehicle behaviour, but also what the driver feels. Through a thorough analysis of how the vehicle responds to the driver’s intentions, Mazda’s engineers have achieved a high level of predictability and responsive handling in the CX-5.
In creating this kind of responsiveness, much of the credit falls to the new-generation SKYACTIV-G 2.0 direct injection petrol engine, which provides abundant low-end torque for acceleration that precisely matches driver intentions, while still offering outstanding fuel efficiency.
As with all Mazda models, it is not just about how the car looks and performs on the outside, but also how it feels on the inside. Comfort, convenience and flexibility were key guidelines in creating CX-5′s highly functional yet welcoming cabin. Convenience is not forgotten, and is in fact provided with astonishing innovation, as the CX-5 boasts the world’s first remote controlled fold-down 4:2:4 rear seats. This means that even with two child seats fitted, the centre seatback can be folded to enable the ‘centre-through mode’ for loading long items.
Safety is a top priority for Mazda and the CX-5 achieves the highest levels with no compromise in driving performance. With upgraded Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM), Secondary Collision Reduction (SCR), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Body Control Module (BCM) systems, Mazda stays true to its fundamental approach to safety – to inspire peace of mind and confidence in order to enhance driving pleasure.
As the new mainstay model of the Mazda car line up, the CX-5 is the first step in the all new Mazda journey, one that will continue with an ongoing series of fresh and innovative products.
