EduTorque: Sharing my passion with Greenview Secondary 4NT

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

I’ve always enjoyed giving talks, especially to youths, to hopefully inspire them to pursue their passion as I did. On Monday, I was invited by EduTorque to do a simple sharing session with the class of 4NT at Greenview Secondary School.

EduTorque is a company that provides motorsports education to MOE schools, giving training to students about motorsports and science concepts behind motor vehicles. They are also working with ITE Central to start the first motorsports CCA Club.

Called ’1st Gear’, the bulk of the lesson for the 30 students was about the theory of starting and running engines, as well as on combustion. Thereafter, I gave my talk and shared with them about my passion and what I do as a motorsport photojournalist. The class consisted mostly of boys and they were really funny, raising hands to ask questions and calling me “-cher” (short form for teacher).

Once I was done with the talk, we proceeded outside to have a look at my pinky S2000, which served as a sort of practical for some of the theories they learnt in class earlier.

Some of them stayed on to ask for photos with me, which they posted on their Instagram and Twitter.

One of them even used the photo he took with me as his profile pic on Twitter!

Thank you 4NT of Greenview Sec for having me!

Also, thank you to EduTorque for inviting me! This is Calvin, the man behind EduTorque…
