CHERYL TAY: First Singaporean in the Guild of Motoring Writers

Written by Cheryl Tay on . Posted in Cheryl Tay Blog | Blog Post of Cheryl Tay

You are looking at the first and only Singaporean in The Guild of Motoring Writers (UK)!

This is indeed a great great honour and I am very thankful to all those who have been supporting me in one way or another – every little bit counts!

I will continue to work hard and keep this honour:)

What is the Guild of Motoring Writers?

It is a prestigious association of automotive journalists, authors, photographers and broadcasters!

The beginning of The Guild of Motoring Writers was an informal meeting of 7 influential journalists at London’s Press Club on 9 October 1944, when plans for a Motoring Correspondents Circle were formulated.

From this small start, the Guild has grown to a point where its membership today numbers well over 400 from both UK and overseas.

This includes daily and regional newspaper correspondents, magazine writers, book publishers, photographers, radio and television broadcasters.

The Guild is recognised as the leading association for automotive journalists, authors, photographers and broacasters, and its views carry a great deal of weight within the motor industry.

There is much co-operation between Guild members and motor industry press offices, particularly through MIPAA, the Motor Industry Public Affairs Association.

I am proud to be part of the Guild!
