2am Contemporary Mooncake Art 2012

Not too long ago, I had a one-on-one interview with Chef Janice Wong (2am:dessertbar, 2am:lab, 2am:experience)  and she is such an inspiration! [Read my interview with Chef Janice here.] Her creativity is of supreme order and her creations are second to none.

For the upcoming mooncake festival, 2am has launched their collection of mooncakes that is inspired by contemporary art, breaking away from the traditional mooncake look and feel. These mooncakes are handmade by their chefs and hand painted by Chef Janice herself, with the mooncake box specially designed by Japanese designer Hironori Kawaguchi.

Featuring unique flavours such as praline poprocks (the little things that ‘jump’ on your tongue), yuzu, popcorn and peanut butter jelly within the usual lotus paste wrapped in snow skin, one box is selling at S$52.

Their Premium Durian mooncakes are also back by popular demand. This year, they are using a mix of D24 and Mao Shan Wang durian types for the mooncake filling. Only upon request, each box is going at S$56.
